8.8 Junk yard finds
Long time no post. Thanks for all the help from Tek and Drof and others back in the day when I was rebuilding my 2.9. Took a trip to the junk yard the other day after doing my research on axle swaps. My 87 Eddie Bauer BII has a 7.5 now with 4.10 gears so I went looking for Explorers with the ...

Front end noise after warming up...
Hey guys...I'm having some odd ball noises come from what I'm guessing is the front end suspension, tires or axle but only after the BII is warmed up and driven for 20 to 30 minutes...then while turning at slower speeds, I get this chattering noise like the tires are skipping or something. It's a bi...

Re: bronco is not wanting to stay running...
I had a similar issue and it ended up being the Air Charge Temp Sensor, about $20, on the passenger side of the upper intake manifold. Sensor was telling the engine it was below zero outside and the engine was guzzling gas to compensate, which also caused it to stutter and stall out when I first sta...

Re: Need advice!
I'd say if that's the only thing wrong with it, then go for it.....it will be a little work to get to the water pump....for the 2.9L, water pump is on the front of the engine behind the fan and drivebelt pulley.....so you'll have to drain the coolant, remove the fan shroud, remove the fan (I borrowe...

Re: oil pan sensor?
Yea Kirkland has it right....it just takes time and patience....getting the oil pump pick up tube in and out is a pain. It helped that I had the top half of my engine off when I did it...and also the radiator and fan were out which frees up room too because I pulled the pan out from the front. Not g...

Re: front end grind/clunk
Maybe axle gear oil is old? I had a pop/clunk on my rear axle and draining and filling the gear oil in the rear axle fixed it.
