Re: fuel pump questions

When I first read your post it got me thinking about whether or not there really is two fuel pumps. Well I'll be. After a little research it does appear to have two pumps. I crawled under the Bronco this morning to see if I could locate the high pressure pump. Guess I need to go back and look at tho...

Re: 84 overhead clock

Ummm. I own an '88. No overhead clock. Sorry. I have buttons for my push button 4X4. Talk about cheesy. Everything works great until the transfer case motor burns out. I now have a 4X4 that is not FWD. Somebody should know how to program it. Good luck.

Re: fire hazzard?

In my case I had to replace the plastic part of the connector. Mine had fried, melted. distorted, you name it. The plug was a goner. I took one look at the wiring harness and decided to replace just the plastic part. Carefully, I took one wire loose from the bad plug and put it in the duplicate spot...

Re: fire hazzard?

I am glad you caught this before any real damage was caused. It has been awhile since I have had my column apart but I believe you will find your problem is in the connector on the turn signal/high-low switch for your head lights. On my BII I had a terminal inside the connector with some resistance ...

Re: LOCATION

I hail from Santa Rosa, CA. But, temporarily reside in a little place not to far from the beach called Castle Hayne, NC. In some places they let you drive on the sand.

Re: 1988 B2 2.9EFI stalls, starts right back up

Rowan. Have you tried a little shot of starter fluid to see if you have a fuel delivery problem or a ignition problem? That is how I narrowed it down on mine to a least fuel delivery. When the motor ran for several seconds on starter fluid I knew for some reason I wasn't getting fuel. For now you ma...

Re: 2.9 is running rich

Just went to look. Hey! I have one of those! I have a love/hate relationship with modern technology. I love how durable engines have become but hate the fact that when something does go it takes a little time to sort it out. Can't just check if there is spark at the plugs and fuel in the carb. Oh we...

Re: bought a 89 bronco 2

How do you engage the FWD. Is it manual or electronic. If it is push button the first thing I would check would be the relay. On my '88 the relays are located right behind the battery.

Re: 2.9 is running rich

I pulled the line off of the regulator and checked it for the presence of fuel. It seemed a little dirty but no gas smell. While doing this I noticed no change in the engines behavior. Could a failed MAP sensor cause the motor to run rich? I was also told to suspect the TPS. Wouldn't the Check Engin...

2.9 is running rich

One of the reasons I parked the Bronco was the fuel mileage. When I start it up it idles a little high but all plugs are firing. When the idle starts to drop it runs pretty rough, sometimes stalling. Even after it has warmed up it shakes all over the place. Plus I can smell it is running rich. This ...

Re: 1988 B2 2.9EFI stalls, starts right back up

Rowan I used to have the same problem. My '88 BII would run fine for awhile and stall out. Most of the time when I sprayed starter fluid in the intake it would start right back up. Some times it would take a few tries. Eventually it didn't start. I went through the whole fuel system to no avail. I c...

Re: Glad to be here!

Ranger Dave? I think you might like Rangers. So I clicked on your link. My hunch was correct. Nice shot with the snow. In '89 I bought a Ranger brand new. Loved it. It had everything but FWD. Because of the Ranger I wanted something that seated more than two people comfortably and would go anywhere....

Re: New member, looking at an '89 - need advice

Welcome. I am new myself. If all checks out I would say that is a great buy. The only thing I don't like about anything after '88 is the plastic headlamps. But that's a personal choice. And now that I think about it sun roofs were not a good idea either. Mine leaks like a sieve. These little babies ...
