Re: Hissing noise coming from break pedal
given the state of my break pipes - Im very doubtful that they would survive being disconnected. Ive also got a broken bleed nipple on the back passenger wheel - so Im guessing that would need fixed too. All in all, Im feeling this might be the end of the road for my B2 as I lack the time and resour...

Hissing noise coming from break pedal
My breaks have all but quit stopping the B2. At first I thought it was due to fluid levels - but on checking, the levels look ok although the fluid is turning black... As I was driving home today, I noticed that when I when I braked (while the engine was running) there is an audible hiss sound comin...

Re: 2.8 getting no fuel?
I think its meant to be blue, but I could be wrong. At least its big. At this point I usually place a screw driver with a well insulated handle into the spark leads and watch the spark through that too - to check that the quality is not being diminished by the plug. But given that you have already c...

Re: 2.8 getting no fuel?
the quality of the spark is what I mean by how big and blue the spark is that is coming off of the the spark plugs. I usually pull one plug at a time and hold it next to the engine block as someone turns the engine - the spark jumps from the plug to the block and you can see if is nice fat and blue....

Re: 2.8 getting no fuel?
I'd check the basics - quality of the spark - (easily done with someone else trying to start the B2) - fuel presure (there are alot of posts on here showing how to do that - its a relatively easy check) - timing (I usually use a light gun) but that is only really useful, like you say, after its runn...

Accidental 75mph
This might seem like a pointless post but I just got to say Im astounded at how resilient my B2 is. When I first got it, it could hardly hold 45mph. Now, with the electrics, thermostat and heater core replaced its is a daily **sweet** ride. As its gotten used to running at the proper temp again its ...

intermintant fault at 2500 revs
Since replacing the thermostat in the car, Ive been running with heat in the engine. As a result its been clearing itself out in there, from all the crap its built up while operating at low temps. In the last few days Ive noticed a growing issue. As I accelerate or maintain speed the engine ticks ov...

Re: Oil pump
Ive never changed the oil - - simply because it already had a "self empty" feature built into it :D However, revelations like what you pointed out make me reconsider that. On the other hand, if it does turn out that the head is busted, it will only spell the end of the B2 for me...

Re: Oil pump
 oh gosh please no! its a hard one to tell just now as when I changed the thermostat I had to drain the coolant. Ive had to top it up two times since then, and cannot guarantee it has been becuase of air in the system - or worryingly - the coolant is being burnt up. I guess only time will tell....

Re: Oil pump
I put a Mechanical oil pressure gauge in. When I start the engine, it goes up to 40-45 psi. once engine gets warm and idles it goes down to around 5 or 10. When i rev the engine to 3000 rpm's, pressure slooowly rises to 40 again. There's a lot of noise, mainly ticking, coming from the top end. thin...
