Will the Explorer seats fit directly in the BII?
All years, are just earlier ones? Any advice on seat swapping out there?
Thx. I'm back on a BII project after about a full year break. Feels good.

87 BII will not kick into EEC test mode
After I pulled the codes the other day, the B2 didn't want to start up without me pressing on the accelerator. AFter I got it started again, I killed it, and tried pulling the codes again to see if anything had changed. And the truck will not kick into to test mode. I know my code reader is working ...

Re: Push button 4x4 not responding (FIXED IT?!)
GOOD NEWS, I've fixed the problem.... I pulled the console out from the roof placement. By interchanging the little bulbs I was able to see that all bulbs worked...even though the 4x4 switch bulbs would not light up in their sockets. Next I pulled the shift motor off the transfer case, disassembled ...

Re: Push button 4x4 not responding
thanks for the input, Mike. Help me here, but I'm not aware of any vacuum lines associated w the transfer case and locking hubs? I see a bunch of wires and a vent hose, but that's it.

Push button 4x4 not responding
Hi guys. I've got an '88 B2, automatic tranny w/ auto locking hubs/t-case. The 4x4 will not engage. When I push the 4x4 button there is no apparent result, no noise, no change, no lights on the console whatsoever. The fuse for that circuit is not blown. If the motor is out on the transfer case, will ...

After pulling codes the engine barely starts
I bought an '87 B2 several days ago. It had not been driven much in a good while. But it start and run though. I drained the little bit of fuel left in the tank today and added fresh fuel with some Seafoam. Started the engine, got it up to oper temp. Then turned off and pulled the codes. Got a 21 ...

A4ld tries to go backwards in low gear
The tranny is apparently gone in my latest B2 acquisition. I gave $200 for it, and it's immaculate except for the tranny. No foward gears work. Reverse still works. But when I manually pull the gear shift all the way down to L1, on the automatic tranny, it apparently feels like backing up! (but with ...

Transmission question
I know this is a newbie question, but here goes... I'm looking at buying an '89 B2, automat, 2.9L, 4x4. The forward gears don't work in the tranny but it will back up. I've got three questions: 1) I'm assuming to use the current tranny, it would have to be rebuilt. Right? 2) Was there only one ...

Re: Pulling front drive shafts, 89bII 4x4
Job is done. Thanks for the advice. I changed out all the u-joints, spindle bearings, seals, and spindle hub seals, and output bushings on the diff. Everything went back to together and is tight and all the pops and noises in the 4WD are gone!

Re: Pulling front drive shafts, 89bII 4x4
What parts should I automatically replace in the front diff when I pull it? At AdvanceAuto they have three different kits for it, and all three seem to have different parts.

Re: Pulling front drive shafts, 89bII 4x4
There's no need to remove the coil spring or radius arm to drop the front diff, right? My Haynes says something about pulling the coil spring. Doesn't seem necessary to me. My spindle bearing on the front right had long since frozen and was welded to the spindle. A few months back I bought a parts ...

Re: Pulling front drive shafts, 89bII 4x4
Thanks guys. You are right, I've only removed the slip shaft on the right side. I'm assuming that to pull the c-clip off the passenger side shaft, I'll have to actually unbolt and drop the front differential, so as to gain access. My Haynes manual does not show anything about the front differential ...

Pulling front drive shafts, 89bII 4x4
Once the spindle is freed from the knuckle (not the easiest task I've taken on!), will the driver's side axle pull out of the differential by itself? Or do I have to unbolt the diff and find a clip to remove? I pulled the passenger side already and the ujoints are shot, terrible rust, even the ears ...
