There was a slight tick before I changed the head gasket and heads, however it is very predominant now. The tick seems to be comming from both sides. No I didn't adjust the valves I know just about enough to be dangerous when it comes to automotive work but I'm allways willing to learn. Thanks, Steve

Hello, I have a B2 with a 2.9, I replaced the head gaskets and had the heads checked for cracks. One had a crack so I replaced the cracked one with a spare head that I had. Just thought I'd let you know that after changing out the pickup coil in the distributor i haven't had any problems with sputter or coughing.

Thanx for the reply vabronconut. Well I guess I changed the fuel filter so often is we get bad gas here from time to time I'm a old farm boy that did that first whenever I had a problem, just a force of habite. You have a very good point about the fuel pump I had changed it about 2 years ago so I ...

Sputter on take off

I have a 1988 BII and since probably 2 years I have been replacing stuff in the fuel system: both Fuel Pumps, Fuel Filter, Fuel Regulator. But lately it has developed a little bit of a cough or sputter on take off and it doesn't matter if it is under a load or not and it wouldn't idle worth a hoot ...
