free doubler

Post by Rockcrawler »

Well i got tired of my crappy gear ratio so i decided to build a doubler for my BII. I took the BW 1356 out of the back of the f 350 and pulled the tail housing off it leaving the slip yoke still there. I cut off about 2 inch of the shaft. Then i cut off the front drive side of the t case. I then built an adapter to bolt betweeen the two cases. The adapter wieghs 20 pounds! I plated the side of the t case to keep dirt out and hopefully i can get it to seal so i can put oil in. I then builted it all up. The whole setup weight 150 pounds which isnt bad considering the 203 205 setup weighs 230 pounds! I need to make my wheel base longer sense the doubler is 17 inches longer then what i had befor! But it come out to just over 5 to 1 which is really nice! I will have more pics soon.

Damn rock that's a long a$$ drive shaft. :D it's looking good though. have you tested it out yet? 5/1 sound mighty nice. how much do you think you could pick up one of those F-350 bw1356 for?

Well there pretty cheap i was actully going to sell this one till i got the idea to do this. I was asking 50 bucks and no one was buying it. Any bw 1356 with a slip yoke will work and i have been told all slip yoked t cases run the 31 spline count that you need. The biggest problem that comes up is how long it is! Its 17 inchs longer now! I havent put a rear drive line in yet and dont know if one will fit with my current setup but with the money i saved i can do the three link in the back and push my wheel base out to 109. The front drive line should be strong sense its the same metal i used for my cage. I have romped on it in front wheel drive some and had no problems out at my friends house (which i get stuck and more then other places) We will see if this setup works permantly (which i hope to god it does because im poor)

That long front shaft kinda reminds me of the old Ford Hi-Boys. Looks awsome!
